What Is PrintVis?
PrintVis is an ERP* /MIS** solution for the Print Industry
It is one among many others in the market.
No complex system such as this is 100% “perfect”.
*ERP = Enterprise resource planning.
ERP is usually referred to as a category of business management software—typically a suite of integrated applications—that an organization can use to collect, store, manage, and interpret data from many business activities.
**MIS = Management information system.
MIS is an information system used for decision-making, and for the coordination, control, analysis, and visualization of information in an organization.
Some key points about PrintVis from a completely subjective POV:
The good:
PrintVis is a truly complete package from the start of a quote to the final invoice and financials.
Calculations and costing are VERY transparent, adjustable, and reliable.
PrintVis is extremely scalable and many tasks can be automated if setup the right way
The Business Central engine from Microsoft is used by many other manufacturing and retail businesses throughout the world.
The not so good:
Support documentation may be lucking in some cases and missing altogether in many others.
User interface is rather plain and requires some time getting used to.
Some data fields do not have the usual “print industry-friendly” captions.
Result:
New users can get easily overwhelmed without solid guidance.
Although there are some standard suggested settings, a system setup usually starts with a “clean slate”.
Although it is totally possible to run a Print business using just “out of the box” tools, PrintVis is by no means a 100% “turnkey” solution for every print business out there.
Setting it up requires research by the potential customer and a careful guidance from the support partner.
